As election fever builds, so does buying fever for hot properties, says Matthew Bennett, founder and director of innovative and leading local internet-based estate agents Orchid.
His advice to those thinking of putting their house on the market is – don’t wait, put it on now as the general shortage of good, quality homes for sale is creating a very lively market.
“Because stock levels are 70 per cent lower than 12 months ago, our vendors are achieving optimum prices for their properties – in many cases a considerable amount above the original asking price,” says Matthew.
“We have been achieving prices at 2007 levels, when the market was at its peak. It may be that there will be a shift in the market after the election in May, so we’d advise all would-be sellers to get into this vibrant market right away.”
Matthew, who has over eight years’ experience in the property market, adds that an upturn in the availability of mortgages is helping to move the property market along too.
Traditionally this is one of the busiest times of the year for those looking for a new home. Take advantage of the hungry hoard of buyers, starved of good properties to look at and put your home on the market. You may be pleasantly surprised at the great price you can achieve and, with Orchid a swift sale to go with it too.
