The local housing market in Letchworth Garden City is lacking in a supply of properties. Realistically priced properties and particularly those full of character such as early Garden City homes are selling as well as at any time in the last five years, but there seems to be a reluctance for owners to market their homes until the New Year. Over the last six months the market has recovered far more than the media has reported and it is now quite regular practice for a new instruction to receive four or five viewings over the first weekend and to sell for the asking price or occasionally more!! Who knows what the New Year will bring, stamp duty, VAT changes and an election looming – all reasons for buyers and sellers to temporarily put things on hold!! We are now coming into the frantic period where every buyer wants to complete their purchase before Christmas – even if the sale is agreed in the middle of November. So if you are thinking of selling – now is the time to do it!!
