Your fireplace has been waiting for this season! Time to adorn it with dried vines, small gourds and twinkling candles, which are all simply spirit-lifting.
Cooler temperatures mean cosying up in sitting areas where a lovely wool or faux fur throw in rich winter colours makes any area instantly inviting. Simply adding new earthy-toned scatter cushions to complete the look.
I have never really contemplated changing a colour scheme for a season, but doing so really does make an impact on the feel of the home, transporting you immediately into winter with such rich colours out there.
We have a snug at home which we have painted a Farrow and Ball colour called Blazer. It’s so delightful that it feels warm even without the fire on, and will make a great Christmas room!
Décor at this time of year is not just about visual impact, but for a full on assault on the senses add smells too – you can use a new seasonal aromatic diffuser, with cinnamon and cider apple notes, instantly transporting you into Christmas mood.
We sell simple large glass jars which have thick rope around the neck which look great hung with scented candles in, but also very beautiful full of fir cones and cinnamon sticks, which, when placed near warmth radiate those earthy natural scents as well as being very visual. From the interior to the exterior, colours at this time of year can be rich and robust or subtle and subdued, have a go at warming your home up for the season.
Meanwhile, building work continues atHamptonsfor our new tea shop. The amount of calls and customers dropping in, asking when they can come and eat and drink, makes me even more excited at the prospect, going to bed thinking up recipes and waking up thinking about its décor. I just can’t wait!
I love this time of year. There’s so much to do, preparation for this and planning for that, seasonal stock arriving all the time and in our advert I have called it “ all things bling and beautiful”. So inspiring, so many gift ideas, and a gift wrap service being planned for December.
Do pop in and see us and, all being well come December, we can feed you some award-winning lemon drizzle cake with a pot of tea, in front of a roaring fire.
