We had a frustrating start to the year where the adverse weather conditions clearly affected the local economy and many businesses. With six inches of snow on the ground in many of our Norfolk towns, getting people out viewing proved difficult in the first two weeks of the year. However, with the improved weather we have seen a resurgence of applicants across all property sectors in the county from first time buyers and strong interest in properties from our Select Homes Department. Over the last week, all of our branches have been busy and there is still a real shortage of quality new instructions coming into the market in several property sectors. We are finding that many of our vendors are very pleasantly surprised by the values that we are being able to place on their property. In some areas, we’ve seen as much as a 10% increase in sale prices during the last four months of 2009. Whilst the economy will still throw challenges at us this year, there is a real appetite for home ownership. Many of the national developers are reporting similar increases in activity too.
