Advice from the Kitchen Doctor…

The Kitchen Directory by Gareth Shanahan

SA_02_Gareth_Shanahan.jpgHaving designed kitchens from £800 to £80,000 I can hopefully offer you useful advice whatever your style or budget. I live in East Anglia and work in London where I am the managing director of The Kitchen Directory Ltd.

FAQ: How do I decide which kitchen company to use?

I would always recommend using the following main criteria to help you make an informed decision:

The design. Remember it is your kitchen and you have to live with it long after the designer has left so you must have confidence in their design and advice

The unit style and materials. It pays to do some research and get a feel for what you want.  You should never feel rushed or pressured.

Quality and guarantee. Check the cabinet construction, the fixings and fittings, hinges, drawer runners etc. Do they meet your needs and your expectations? How long is the guarantee and do you know what is and isn’t covered.

The price. Get a written quotation and make sure you know exactly what the price includes. Always allow enough in your budget for flooring, tiling and decoration and 10% extra for those unexpected costs!
