With half term over and the start of the school exams, a lot of people thinking of selling may feel that the housing market is getting to ready to close down for the summer and nothing will happen until September. This is certainly not the case. We found last June to be the best month of the year for the number of houses sold and the 4th best month for numbers of properties let. This year seems to be shaping up in a very similar way with demand for houses to buy and properties to let still increasing all the while.
There are many buyers and tenants who want to get moved before schools return and demand is again outstripping supply of both houses to rent and buy. Having said demand is good we do notice signs the prices are starting to level off and May’s increase in prices according to Nationwide was only up 0.5% compared to April (up 1.1%) and March (up 1.0%).
Hitchin still seems to be a property hotspot. So if you are thinking of moving it still is a really good time to move and take advantage of this buoyant market.
