Following up on Wealth Bulletin’s listing of the world’s ten most expensive streets (http://www.wealth-bulletin.com/home/content/1054751092/), Charles McDowell, prime London property consultant, comments:
“It’s no surprise that Swiss property has held its value and is in some areas rising. Swiss bankers report that they aren’t seeing a large influx of Brits moving in but a number of my clients have gone forward with the purchase of a second home in Switzerland. This gives them the option of changing their residency if the tax situation in the UK or anywhere else becomes untenable.
“It’s a fine balance for those considering a move as the costs of moving to Switzerland are higher than one would expect, with a number of hidden taxes that appear once thoroughly investigated. The lifestyle is also quite different from the varied environment in London. ”
